The Role
I loved every minute of my placement year, it was such a diverse year which meant I never found myself repeating tasks or being bored.
In each department, everyone I worked with made me feel welcome and valued which really helped me, especially at the beginning of the placement when I was settling in
We had a training consultant who was there whenever we had any questions to ask. I could go to her for any support I needed.
Everyday I was given various tasks that kept me extremely busy throughout the day, however I was never overloaded with work which I believe is a good balance.
Throughout various modules there was various levels of responsibility. Some modules gave me full responsibility of a task throughout.
I believe this placement has definitely improved all of my skills including organisation, time management and confidence which will benefit me in my final year of University
The Company
Everyone in all offices were happy and generally in a good mood. There is a real sense of team work through the company and everyone is always extremely willing to work and also help others.
The structure of the placement was very clear from the beginning. I was given a calendar with all important dates and deadlines with things I needed to remember
I had a training plan throughout my placement which was adjusted to suit my personal needs. This was followed extremely well and there was a lot of time spent with myself in developing areas I wanted to improve on

I believe future employment is very appealing. I am certainly looking into the graduate schemes that Lidl have to offer
The Culture
Definitely. Per region there are only two placement students however we became very good friends. As everyone at Lidl is so friendly I also became friends with quite a few of these. We often went for meals after work, and sometimes things were organised for the weekends.
I lived in Newcastle where I am studying for University which is around 45 minutes away from my place of work. This is also a student area so I found the cost of living extremely affordable.
As previously mentioned, I lived around 45 minutes away from my place of work and haven't been on a night out near to where I worked, however, Newcastle is a main city and is extremely good for a night out
As previously mentioned there was several times I socialised outside of work with fellow colleagues. They also have their own activities, unfortunately I didn't take part in these however it was good to know they were there should we need them
