The Role
The work environment and the people are great. The work itself was ok
Everyone was very friendly and didn't mind you asking questions. They made me feel comfortable and part of the team
Your manager checks in to see how your performance is going. There is always opportunity to ask for help.
A lot of the time there was no work for me to do
It wasn't just simple admin tasks given in this internship. They gave me work which went towards to final review of the accounts they were doing
I don't think i've learned skills for my degree but it was helpful to gain an understanding of accounting working life and I'd know what to expect from the job now.
The Company
I was not in the office for the majority of my internship, in fact i was only there for 3 days. I worked on client sites with a team ranging from 2-8 people. The people were friendly making it a relaxed environment.
This is one area i think could be improved. There was a lot of confusion in my first day with equipment and who would be taking the interns. I was also supposed to have a buddy (somewhat like a mentor) but never had one. Because i was changing teams a lot no one knew if they were supposed to be my buddy or not. This was only a problem cause I didn't know who to ask about admin problems, general questions etc. The other people i worked with didn't mind me asking them the questions but it would have made me feel more at ease if I had someone i knew I could just ask.
There wasn't too much training about the actual work. The training was on graduate roles, and the company. It was good to learn more about the graduate roles, but I felt that i was asked if I knew how to do some things by my colleagues and i didn't know. I do think the company invest a lot in you though. Your colleagues take time to teach you how to do the work
The company offer a very good grad scheme because of the training they provide
The Culture
There was a social for the interns that was organised by the recruitment team which was nice. Also, when on a client site away from home there was times we would go out for dinner after work.
There was a day where some of the interns did some volunteering
