The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed the placement.
I felt extremely valued by my colleagues and felt I had a definite value add to the team.
I was given a great deal of support from my 'buddy' who was always available to meet me for coffee or lunch to discuss any problems I was facing. My manager also provided me with support, although he was more busy and harder to get a hold of (understandably!).
Work came in 'waves'. At the beginning of the placement there were some days were I had very little work to do. Towards the end of the placement work really picked up and I found myself having to stay in the office much longer.
I was given a great deal of responsibility. Much more than I expected for an intern! One of the analysts was on holiday so I essentially filled in for them. I also met with clients.
The experience provided me with fantastic exposure and improved my business confidence dramatically. The training I received will certainly be of value in my future professional career and also in my studies- group work etc.
The Company
Great atmosphere! Very people focused. High pressure atmosphere in the run up to deadlines but calm afterwards.
Well organised apart from the fact that I applied for technology consulting and was essentially placed in management consulting. This was due to my 'buddy', who's project I should have been assigned to, being on a secondment in a different department.
Invested allot of time in me. I was given a buddy, manager and a people leader! Lots of development available on the grad scheme with opportunities for Professional qualifications.

Very! Lots of training available, they heavily invest in you. Also a big name that opens lots of doors. Great exposure too.
The Culture
Yes we organised a few get togethers after work for food and drink.
London is expensive, Canary wharf particularly so. I had to stay with family and commute over an hour every morning and evening.
Lots of choice but very expensive. Long commute made going out late impossible.
Yes lots. CSR and sport teams.
