The Role
The working environment was welcoming and set project was accessible. The large quantity of other interns made the experience enjoyable and easy to settle in. As an introduction to industry BP is ideal for technical careers due to the level of experience staff have, and the relevance and value of projects which are set.
During review meetings my input was considered and acted upon. The majority of my work was well received during the final appraisal.
Support was given in reassurance the project was being completed correctly, but project direction and tasks were defined by myself and was given large responsibility for tasks and motivation.
Tasks were large enough but in general, long term. I had to set out objectives for completion and there could possibly have been a greater number of short duration/quick completion tasks in addition.
I was given a large amount of responsibility to complete the project, which required me to organise and host meetings with the group, to discuss direction and problems with the work I was dealing with. I felt I had a large role driving the project to completion.
The interpersonal skills developed during the internship will aid me in future group projects, interviews and networking. Additionally, the technical knowledge can be used in future projects and is applicable to the career I wish to pursue.
The Company
People were friendly and approachable, there didn't feel like there was a distinct hierarchy which made for a more relaxed environment.
We were always notified of tasks or activities well in advance, the induction day was useful in that respect.
Very impressed with the amount of investment in interns. The opportunity to participate in state of the art telepresence technology is not available at smaller companies. Also, the presentation skills day was incredibly useful for BP and other careers.

Company Parties/Events
The internship gives a very good insight into how working at the BP complex would be. As a challenger I would expect more responsibility and opportunity which is very attractive.
The Culture
There were several interns within my unit which made the internship easier initially. Lots of events were organised also.
Cost in London is fairly expensive, but with greater knowledge of the area you can find reasonable places.
The proximity to London was very useful.
A range of social activities were organised which accommodated to the majority. A field trip to an asset may have been useful.
