The Role
I was not really sure what I was going to do in RBS when I started my internship. I am studying engineering degree which is totally different than banking or business field. But my team quickly helped me to do my job and taught me some of most important lessons during my internship. I feel like the work environment is really friendly and feedback-oriented. They give me like 1 -2 week period to catch up with the fundamental and important stuffs. After that they trusted me with real works with deliverables. I enjoyed working in RBS. I would definitely recommend it to everybody.
I was nervous when I first arrived in my team. I thought people in banks will be really serious and strict. But they were friendly and helpful to me. They helped me with all the basic stuff that I have to do during my first week. We had a good conversation and talks about our work or general topics. They welcomed me easily and helped me throughout my internship.
My manager was working in different location. So I was quite worried about my future work and interaction between us. But my manager was extremely helpful and interactive with me. She provided me with good feedbacks and guidelines to improve my work. I feel I am really lucky to work with such a great manager.
Generally, I was quite busy with my work. But it was not overwhelmingly busy that I could not cope. My team was helpful with managing my work. Obviously during my first few weeks, I was not that busy. But my team recommended me to do some really useful online courses available to us. After first we weeks, my works was almost perfectly balanced.
My manager was strict about doing job that will matter. She told my during our first meeting that I should do real jobs during my internship. She trusted me with some general tasks (e.g. organising meeting and booking rooms) during my 1st week. Then I moved onto planning our future tasks of our team with my line manager. Then I did a task which was our team's deliverable.
I feel like I improved and developed many new skills ( and other areas that was not strong). There were many useful online trainings available to us. Also, RBS was running many workshops and seminars during/after work. I think I developed many skills and abilities related to communication and business/ banking. I think those skills will be very useful for my future career.
The Company
Generally it was really great atmosphere. We could always talk and discuss about different topics during our lunch break or short breaks. Sometimes the office is quite busy, then it might be little bit stressful. But I will be busy as well, so I never felt bored or dull in the office.
I think the internship was organised really well. We had a great induction day which included some really useful information and team building exercises. During our mid-term event, we had a fun events such as treasure hunting and ghost tours. Our career team was helpful and interactive with us during my internship.
There is a lots of opportunities to improve my personal skills and professional skills. We have tons of online learning courses and contents available to us on our main page. Also, we do lots of workshop and seminars during weekdays. Our career team put up some useful talks and interactive activates every few weeks.

I think the company is a great place to work. Although we have some legacy issues which is a drawback for lots of people. But for me it is an exciting and challenging environment to work in. I feel our top executives are taking the right decisions. Also, our management team is great at helping and guiding us. I got a offer with my company.
The Culture
Our career team organised monthly pay-day drink event. It is a great way to socialise with other interns and graduates in the company. Also, out team organise monthly catch up event which is great way of knowing our colleagues better and connecting. We have lots of social activities available to us. We have our own social platform which helps us to meet with people.
