The Role
This has been the best internship/placement that I have experienced to date out of the 3 I have done in my life. I can honestly say I love the job and will be happy to join the organisation in a graduate role.
I feel I was accepted as a part of the team from the offset. My opinion was valued and consulted, I was included in everything and felt very comfortable to go to anyone for help.
My line manager was excellent and felt that he took on the role as mentor to a degreee in providing insight in how to approach the role and perform at my best.
I had quite a lull for the end 3rd of the placement due to the nature of a specific task which required significant engagement with stakeholders to move forward. It is hard to hold it against the team as it was difficult to avoid, but I do feel I should have been given other tasks to stop me twiddling my thumbs at times.
The responsibility of creating a sourcing strategy that could stretch to $80m spend over its duration was a massive display of trust in my abilities on the team's part.
If I can say I took one thing away from this internship, it is that I learned a LOT. I am hoping to use the learning and connections to assist in the research stage of my thesis in 4th year.
The Company
I would say I developed a great deal, but I didn't go on any actual training days unfortunately.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Healthcare/Dental
I will take a place on the grad scheme without hesitation.
The Culture
The interns all got along very well and built strong friendships. We socialised every week, quite often multiple times.
London is very expensive.
The location of work itself is relatively poor, but the accomodation's nightlife was quite good.
Not a lot of opportunities provided by the company itself, but the interns created them.
