    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I think Bloomberg is a very valuable place in which to have an internship : the trainings are amazing. They spend a large amount of time and resources in training. Everybody is happy to help as soon as they can, and you will fit in quickly and learn quickly.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Of course there are personal differences among colleagues, but as an average I felt extremely valued by them. I never felt "different" or underestimated because I was not a permanent employee: they let me work with them on their projects as if I was one of thm from day 1.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given great support by each and every of them,. My buddy and manager sat with me multiple times at the beginning of the internship and multiple times in the following weeks to explain to me the products and basic concepts of the financial market. But that was not it: working in Bloomberg is a continuous learning experience. Whenever I felt the need for further training, I could go to anyone of my colleagues and they would be at any time willing to have a session of training with me or to schedule one.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It think it was kind of the right balance: you start at 8 and end at 6 and it is up to you to make the most out of those hours. At the end of the internship I had to collaborate with New York & San Francisco office, though, and it was hard because I had nothing / little to do in the morning and a lot of things to do at night and couldn't finish at 6.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given full responsibility of my projects./ I also presented one of my thee projects to a client directly, and my colleagues were always supportive and willing to help.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think the financial knowledge I acquired during this internship will be extremely valuable for my future finance exams. But the skills I learnt go so much beyond this: I learnt how to be responsible, I learnt to ask for help ( you will never be able to know everything in a company,, and learning from peers is a valuable skill as well)., I learnt how to

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I think that the atmosphere was very positive and inclusive. I never felt left out or harassed or excluded. There were funny moments and moments where we had a great laugh all together, but it's not only fun. You have to realize when is the moment to laugh and when is the moment to work hard and be serious, it is a valuable asset here

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I think it was extremely well organized, especially compared to other internships I have experienced. I was given several projects that I had to work on since day 1 and alsomany different little tasks. TRhey stimulated my creativity and encouraged me to be proactive in proposing projects on my own from the middle of the inertnship onwards.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As I have already said, I think that Bloomberg invests a lot of money, time and resources in interns and in training them : we received a widest arrange of traiuning, from hard skills to soft skills, from leadership and time management to financial market concepts and terminal - related trainings.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I think that working in Bloomberg in the long term provides great career opportunities. unfortunately there are only few department who hire experienced people, so if you ejoy the App portal and enterprise solutions, for example, you would still have to go through other department for a consistent amount fo time before joining your "preferred" career path.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • ,I think there was a good social scene among us: it was up to us how much we wanted to interact , but we were given multiple occasions of meeting new people, enlarging our network and engage with our fellow interns.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Living and going out i general is extremely costly in London. I was not able to go out as often as I did in milan, not even for dinner, because titis way mroe costly. Good news: the salary is high too!

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I did not go out in the area I worked ( City, bank, etc). Around here, there are many English pubs which are not my thing at all, I prefer cleaner and less filthy clubs, so I usually hanged out in South Kensigton and Chelsea.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, there were many gyms and volounteering activities. As far as volounteering activities are concerned, bloomberg gave many occasions to get involved.
