The Role
Brilliant, thoroughly enjoyed my time in the role! Made even better by the great group of people I worked with.
Was told a few times how important the work I was doing was to the sucess of the wider project, made to feel particularly valued at the end of the internship when my services were no longer going to be available.
Had multiple routes for support and guidance and never felt affraid to ask for support when needed.
Not overwhelemed at any point, just the right balance. Always had something to do and projects to be helping with.
Plenty, there were a few occasions where I had been given work to do independently, not wise to how important it actually was and finding out once it had been handed in.
Many skills were learnt that will be transferreable into roles further down the line within the company.
The Company
Very good atmoaphere the majority of the time, think I landed myself in a very good group
Very good, the early careers team at RR handled things extremely efficiently and always replied promptly to any issues there were.
Huge amount of online courses available on the company intranet. Courses could be self allocated or given to you to be done.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Massively appealing! I knew I wanted to work for this organisation from the Assessment centre onwards. The enormity of the company and how successful it is can only add to that.
The Culture
Intern facebook group set up so was always aware of goings on. Also if you were living in the accomodation offered during the internship with the other interns you would experience it even more! Unfortunately I didnt stay there as I lived close by anyway.
I believe the cost of staying in the accomodation offered (which was in university halls) was about £100 a week. In terms of social life, the Derby area has plenty of cheap bars, bit of a walk though from where the accomodation is based.
Plenty of bars, not sure about clubs, Derby isnt renound for its clubs...Nottingham is near though and thats brilliant!
There was the opportunity to join the Apprentice and Graduate Association which organised plenty of activities!
