The Role
I found the internship to be really enjoyable. The work environment was great. Colleagues were helpful and more than happy to assist or incorporate me into their work.
Very much so. At the start of the internship everyone was very friendly and helpful. As the internship progressed I was working more and more independent of my manager and became a point of contact in the channel. I was part of the team and I felt really valued.
I was given all the support I needed. My manager was great about introducing me to the channel and all the stakeholders. As time moved he took a step back and let me work more and more independently, build and maintain my own professional relationships etc. Nothing to complain about at all.
Always busy. I had a lot of work to do and some weeks could be challenging. The thing is, I decided myself what projects to get involved in. So if I wasn't busy I could easily get involved in some project. This ensured that I always had things going on but never too much.
A lot. I was handling projects myself, doing presentations to senior stakeholders and getting requests for work.
I learned some useful statistical tools but the main skills are people skills, handling expectations, building relationships etc. They will help me greatly I think
The Company
Professional but relaxed. People were friendly and helpful. Very good attitude towards work/life balance.
I don't think an internship should be too rigid. My manager and I took it on a week by week basis which meant that I could direct where I wanted to work and with what and not be stuck with some predetermined plan. Manager was really helpful in introducing me to different areas.
They did 3 webinars, weekly 1-2-1s with my manager, loads of online resources. Could they have done more? Yes. But they did more than enough still. The most valuable thing is learning from experienced people and they were very happy to spend time with me and share their work
