The Role
I enjoyed it far more then I really expected to, the work was interesting and my team were great, I never really felt that time was dragging whilst I was there.
By about halfway through the internship I really started to feel like the work I was doing was valued by the team and that was making a difference to the project as a whole.
My whole team were very supportitive and I never felt like I was wasting people's time when I asked questions, but my line manager in particular was great. I also had a mentor who wasn't part of my team who I could have gone to had there been any issues.
Sometimes I had very little to do, at other times I had far too much, however this was more related to the style of work I was doing, when programmes were set up and running I could only wait for the results - I know others felt differently.
I was given the responsibilty for doing my project and to be honest, could have got away with doing as much work as I wanted to. However no-one was checking what I was doing (unless I asked for it) and I was able to take my project in a direction that interested me - so long as I eventually produced results that BP needed.
I have learnt so much that is relevant to my course next year as well as having practical experience in applying that knowledge. I also feel that I have expanded some of the 'soft skills' like time management etc.
The Company
Very relaxed.
For me it was seamless as my line manager did everything by the book - for others this wasn't the case.
More then expected.

The Culture
If you wanted to then the opportunity was there.
London far too expensive but the BP bar was pretty cheap. Cheap accomadation was available if you looked for it.
Around Feltham it was non-existent, in London it was expensive.
Yes, both organized by BP and less formally.
