The Role
Enjoyed the placement and the projects, but felt that the projects didn't much value to BP.
Everyone was really helpful. Managed to speak to senior/other BP employees outside my work group.
Line-manager was fantastic and so was the mentor. Couldn't have asked for anything better!
Was busy during the important parts of the projects.
Not much responsibility, but that was the nature of the projects.
A lot of the skills learnt will be useful in the future (e.g presentations, communication, etc), but a lot of them were industry specific (technical and safety standards . .)
The Company
The office is very quite and dull, but some of the work (especially during the mid-internship) was able to do some work on the site/workshops.
Really well organized. Projects weren't confirmed until a week into the placement.
Ambassador training; Covered expenses for trips to Aberdeen, Sunbury and the Dimlington gas terminal; Shadowed several different engieers around site; Went on various different tours of the site.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Spoke to many different people within the company regarding the career paths - was really helpful. Would have liked to know more about the long term paths rather than the short term (i.e not just about Challenge program)
The Culture
All interns lived together, which was great fun. Regular activities include: Badminton, Tennis, Gym, Cycling, Films (on projectors at home), BBQs, Pub next to the house and day/weekend trips.
Quite cheap. All inclusive accommodation for £80 a week, and the standards were pretty good.
Near work - none. Around where we lived (~6 miles away from work) - it was alright.
Yup, listed previously.
