The Role
Had such a good time. It was well supported and a good project.
It's a real project that actualy has benfit to the company.
Supervisor was really keen to make sure I was happy with what I was doing the whole time.
The project was demanding but there was time to experience other aspects of BP life like talks from Olympic medalists and 'lunch and learns' on other areas around the company.
The project was my responsiblity but help was there when I needed it. I could talk to suppliers and set up meetings without needing conformation nor inviting more senior staff. The project demanded I took responsibility to gain the information but everyone was willing to help give suggestions on how to achieve it.
Training on how to give presentations and guidence on report writing in industry were available and very tranferable skills.
The Company
The atmosphere in my office was good. I didn't socialise or see many of my collegues (except interns) outside of work but there were coffee hours and cake during work hours. Experience was different for other interns though who had more outside contact.
Sometimes information wasn't clear about how to claim expenses or when the assessment would be at the end but generally
I managed to get offshore training, IT training and any other training I needed. People were keen to sit down and explain things and take the time.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
They are keen to explain it and it looks good.
The Culture
Living together made it so much fun!!
Under 3 quid for the cinema!! Other things were more expensive as it is an oil city. Transportation can be dear.
It's a city with a night life. Maybe not the most lively city but Aberdeen has a good range.
As interns we went hill walking, climbing, visited cities etc.
