The Role
The placement was very enjoyable. For anyone with an interest in learning more about Transport Planning, it really is an ideal placement.
I felt valued by my colleagues. The placement has been running in the team for almost 20 years, and they have great experience in how to interact with a placement student. I felt my views were factored into discussions and I felt confident in expressing my opinion.
The support and guidance on offer is very good. You are sat with your line manager for the majority of the placement, and they are very involved in monitoring your progress. The first few weeks in particular a lot of time is invested in the placement student.
The role is very involved. There is plenty of work to be done, and the team will always require your input. You are very rarely bored, and there is a variety of tasks to be completed in the role.
The Company
The team is very pleasant and welcoming. The office atmosphere is generally jovial and everyone is up for getting along. I didn't experience any arguments or poor behaviour while on placement.
The placement has been running a very long time now, and the team are experienced in handling the placement.
I was able to attend writing/presentation workshops, as well as receive a lecture series on Transport Planning. TfL offers a wide variety of training opportunities.

Generally good. Tighter budgets mean that the situation on this is somewhat uncertain at the minute.
The Culture
London is generally expensive. However, there are places near-by which offer reasonably priced food/drinks.
