The Role
A lot to learn about a very unique bank. Understandably a few routine tasks were necessary however I was given the opportunity to solely manage a number of projects which was great.
A lot of trust was put in me and a lot of time given by the team that I worked with. Regardless of their workloads, colleagues always had time for me. I felt like part of the team.
The level of support given by the team was faultless. Even when making a mistake, they would be extremely understanding and help me to build on this.
Always had something to do - time management was a key attribute that I learnt during this internship, having trusted to carry out a number of tasks and projects by myself.
I was impressed by the level of trust put in me and amount of responsibility given. Having been solely responsible for numerous key projects came as a very welcomed surprise.
Many skills that I learned and skills that I acquired are not things that can be taught in a lecture theatre. The practical application of my knowledge has aided with my persona development dramatically.
The Company
Very friendly despite the busy and challenging culture.
Very well. The fact that nothing was too set in stone was great. The intern meet up session was helpful in getting to find out what other Handelsbanken interns were up to.
They invested a lot of time and effort into me. The wide array of tasks that I was given were always explained to be befor, with key being to not have to ask something for a second time.
Company Parties/Events
The culture is very individual and much more moral than that of other firms. Making it an attractive firm to work for.
The Culture
The intern meet up in Birmingham was good fun and very insightful.
I was fortunate enough to get a placement in my hometown therefore travel was only ten minutes away for me.
Nightlife in Ipswich isn't great though if you just want to go for dinner and drinks there are a few good restaurants and bars around. For young people, the nightlife scene of fairly poor.
Plenty of networking events to get involved in.
