The Role
I enjoyed my internship at KPMG very much and I would encourage everyone to apply for it. Every part of my internship - my team, project, tasks, office, etc - contributes to it being a very valuable and unforgettable month.
I felt as a valued member of the team, I was given responsibilities and trusted by my colleagues. I was always involved in team work, meeting, etc. and I always felt like I am treated as a permanent employee and not just as an intern.
I had a very good manager who was always willing to explain anything I don't understand. He made a tremendous effort to make sure I have enough support and guidance.
Over the first week I was not too busy as I was mainly being introduced to the concepts. However over the next four weeks, I always had tasks that I had to do and I was never just hanging around without work to do. The workload was very balanced, thus while I was always busy, I did not have to do million tasks at the same time.
Over the fist week, I did not get many responsibilities at it was only the start of my internship, but over the next weeks, I was given some parts of the project that I was fully responsible ( but I always could ask for support and was never left alone to deal with stuff I don't understand).
Since I am studying completely unrelated degree, the development in this area is limited. However transferable skills, abilities to think quickly and work efficiently defiantly helped in my further studies. And in terms of usefulness for life beyond studying, I have no doubt that this internship helped me to develop skills, such as communication, project management, critical thinking, excel, that I will use in my future career.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was really great! People are extremely friendly and are always willing to help or have lunch with you, talk about what they are doing, about their career at KPMG. Office itself is very nice an new, also have some great places to eat or get a coffee (with a really nice view).
It was organised well, we had initial training and induction. You get a buddy/ performance manager with whom you can always talk of you have any general problems or questions or if you just want someone to talk to. You also get a supervisor/ manager who gives you tasks and supervise your work. During the internship, there was also a networking event a social.
Since the internship is only fours weeks, there was not a lot of time for personal training and development, however we had training on the first day, also had some online live training over the first week about using different systems. There are many online development courses that are very useful! Also if you join for a graduate job afterwards, you study for CIMA.

I would definitely want to work at KPMG Advisory as I really enjoyed my summer internship here. Since the type of work I did during my summer internship would be very similar to what I would do when I start working there, I can be sure that I would enjoy it.
The Culture
KPMG team organised for all interns a networking event and a social event (at bowling venue), which was really fun and we got a chance to meet not only all advisory interns, but also interns from Audit and Tax. It was also quite common for interns to organise something themselves and socialise together.
KPMG office is in London at Canary Wharf and it is a very expensive area to live, however there are many cheap places around 10 min tube ride away. Since there are so many offices in the area, Canary Wharf also has many bars and places to eat with reasonable prices.
