The Role
Over the six weeks I gained an invaluable insight into working in the financial services. Everyone I worked with were lovely and more than happy to help. Work was challenging but rewarding in the sense that you learned quickly and we're making a real contribution. However some days were monotonous and when there was a lack of work days could be boring and drag
All the work I was given contributed to the work for that client. I was trusted with talking to clients, carrying out calculations and completing work papers. However on occasion their was a lack of work for me, and I felt more of a hinderance rather than a help.
Everyone was more than happy to help and answer questions. It's important you ask when your struggling as you are put in the deep end and expected to pick up new things very quick. However colleagues whether graduates or senior managers were always more than happy to take time out to help me. There is really no such thing as a stupid question.
This varied for 75% of the time very busy (which I preferred) however as the summer is generally quieter, there were days when the work load was minimal.
From the outset you are trusted to complete client work- this is all reviewed by management.
Not so much in my degree but as an insight into working in a large financial services company the experience was invaluable.
The Company
Was fairly laid back, you a trusted to complete your own work in time and everyone was very welcoming
I got the opportunity to work with server all different clients over the 6 weeks, attend many social including the summer party and away day and a volunteering day was arranged for the interns. The only downside was the days where it was difficult to find work for me and I was sent to the office to complete more mundane tasks.
The only training I competed was a short excel training and an introductory day to KPMG. We were given a performance manager who was meant to review and feedback our progress however this did not materialise for me.

I think I was told about 90% of interns are offered a grad place at the end of my internship- I received a job offer.
The Culture
Yes all the interns were given many opportunities to get to know each other during the social events. I quickly built up strong friendships with many of the interns. Furthermore, as you have the opportunity to work with so many different people it is quick to build relationships with people in the firm.
Bristol is fairly expensive
Nightlife is diverse- something for everyone
Yes many social events
