The Role
I was unlucky in that I was placed in a department that wasn't the most challenging, it was mostly admin work. But if you make what you want out of it you can really learn a lot here and most of the other workers are very happy to help whenever. There also are lots of more interesting roles
Again, unlucky that my team wasn't the most friendly. I know that this isn't the feeling among all interns here. I get the feeling that because the work is mostly admin that this means they churn through interns and apprentices really quickly. They were also really busy at the time I was there due to the launch of the software.
Most often there was always someone I could go to with any queries I had about the work. I often found some of the other workers unapproachable but this was mostly due to the stress at the time. They were often great at giving help when needed but not so great at pushing me to work harder
I came at a very busy time to the department due to the launch of the software towards the end of my placement. This means that there was always lot of work to be getting on with, some of which was very important to complete by a specific time. I also started organising events for the other undergrads and this took up a significant amount of time.
I would rarely be able to go off and manage something on my own, which was a shame as it didn't allow me to fully explore all that the company had to offer. As the internship progressed I was given a bit more freedom to work on the admin job more independently but I would have preferred to have been given the opportunity to work outside of excel
The internship hasn't built of anything I studied at university. And I seriously doubt that it will help me at all in a technical way when I return to uni. But as most jobs will, I have genuinely learnt a lot of time management and self motivation skills which I may not have picked up elsewhere.
The Company
Very dull atmosphere and very little excitement. People were often too engrossed in their own work to even look up and say hi to you at points. I found there was a very un enthusiastic feeling about work each morning which was very bad for productivity. There were times where we would all have a laugh but they were very few and far between. The best atmosphere came from the other interns, going to lunch and hanging out with them.
Fine. Mostly fine. There was an induction day and that was very helpful to meet everyone and it seemed like you could contact HR whenever for any issues or concerns you may have. But the communication stopped shortly into the internship, there was very little other events organised. I know for the graduate scheme that a lot of great events are organised so a friend and I tried to set up a similar thing here in the internship.
I think that they have invested a lot into us, from recruitment to interviews to induction days and finally the sponsorship I believe that they have really spent a lot of time and money into the internship scheme. HR even took the time to ask us our opinion on recruitment. I do have a concern though that they didn't invest much into the places people were placed in. It seems like it was just randomly allocated and when a friend asked to switch he was told he couldn't

The graduate scheme is very very good here in JLR and I know that if I carry on working here that w can be fast tracked onto the scheme which is amazing! Also through the sponsorship scheme they pay some money to us to encourage us to return, and they are also very happy for us to look into other areas of the department and tell them where we want to work
The Culture
Yeah. But mostly if you live in Liberty Point in Coventry
Not a lot at all. Standard uni prices. £1030 for the 3 months at Liberty Point
Kasbar!
Yeah but again, mostly if you live in Liberty Point or you have a friend in Liberty Point as that's where most of the organisation is done
