The Role
Amazing company with a lot of support available. I worked in public sector audit and got a good variety of experience throughout my time here. I worked for 2 councils and 1 college and did a variety of work. I also worked on a storage company, and I was mainly out at client sites which was a good experience.
There was a lot of support and I was assigned a buddy who helped me to settle in. You are valued and made to feel as a part of the team which is very good. You get to work with a lot of senior people which is very good. Everyone is really supportive.
The more senior individuals explain your work in a lot of detail and ensure that it is going okay for you. You are given a hands on approach which really helps you to get a lot from your time at the company. You are assigned a people leader who helps you with any work related queries you may have. Everyone is really supportive.
This varied on a day to day basis and on the basis of how much work was available. It also depends on your skill level. During the internship, there is only a number of jobs that you can do, so at times there may be no work. However, this varies from project to project.
Some projects involve a lot of client interaction and sometimes you were required to work alone with clients which was a good experience. However, this also depends on your skill level and the type of work available. It also varies between service lines. Some managers will offer you the work and others will not.
Overall, it was a really good experience and was also challenging at times. The fact that I know have some industry experience will really help me in the future. In terms of degree studies, my presentation and communication skills have really improved so this will help me with assessed work.
The Company
It was generally very good as everyone is really friendly and there is also a lot of support available. Everyone is really helpful and will assist with any queries you may have. The managers are also very good and are very flexible and friendly. You are really valued at KPMG.
It was really good however, it did really depend on who you were working for and with and the type of work that was available. We had an induction at the start which was for a day which informed you of what KPMG is and the great things available at KPMG. I also had a meeting at the end with a people leader and we talked about my experience which was very good.
Really good. There are plenty of secondment opportunities if you want to try something new. Also, the training team is really good as they give you leadership training and also help you a lot with your exams.
