About You
I really enjoyed the 2 day insight I received at EY as it gave me a feel for what the company has to offer me as a soon to be graduate. I enjoyed the days as it wasn't full of talks and it had activities for us to take part in and to work in teams. I liked especially the final exercise which they gave us, which was a mock client exercise and it gave me a feel as to what I could be doing on down the line. During these 2 days, I also felt that EY truly cared about us, as we had the opportunity to meet graduates who are working in EY at the moment and we also got the chance to hear from the directors and partners of the different lines of service that EY offer.
I felt extremely valued during my time at EY as both directors and partners took time out of their very busy schedules to meet and talk with us. It proved to me that EY have a lot of interest in people at are my shoes, a student who is currently looking for a graduate job. Out of the whole 2 days, I felt most valued when we were given the opportunity to present in front of 2 partners within EY and was given feedback which can help me when I apply for EY. In addition to this, I felt valued when EY took the time to take us out to allow us to network with members within EY.
I was given a lot of guidance during my insight, as after these days I know exactly what line of service I wish to go into once I have finished university. It also provided me with a lot of useful information which I can take with me and can use in the future. I was also able to find out more about the opportunity that is available to me to continue on and study towards a Masters degree before I could join EY.
I feel that the skills I developed and the information I received within this insight will assist me significantly in both my degree studies and beyond. It has taught me a great deal about the profession in which I want to continue onto and so the skills in which I will need to succeed in achieving my goals.
The Company
I felt that the insight was well structured as we were given an over view each morning as to what we would be doing that day and so it allowed us to see what was planned for us instead of not knowing what to expect. I liked the mix between the talks and the excerises as it gave us useful information and also the chance for us to try activities that are taken place within EY.
The general atmosphere was positive during the 2 days. I felt that EY had found the right balance between information and exercises and it also had a very relaxed feel to the days (apart from the timed exercises).
I felt that during the 2 days EY fully invested in me, as they took a lot of time to explain everything to us and to make sure we understood everything. With the exercises that EY had set out for us, it was clear that they were fully invested in our personal training and development.
It gave me a fully understanding as to what it would be like to have a full time role within EY. Once again, this was portrayed through the balance between the information and the activities that was given to us. After having this insight, I know I would love to have a full time role within EY in the future.
The insight helped me significantly in understanding the company culture as from these days I have seen that EY is very people orientated. I felt that the company culture had found the correct balance between being relaxed and also professional.
I found that the content of the day was very valuable in helping me decides on my future career path as I now know I wish to be apart of EY's Assurance business line.
Everything Else
I didn't mind about this as I only live 30 minutes away and I was given valuable information within my 2 days.
There were various opportunities for networking and meeting other employees within EY. We had the opportunity to network during lunch which allowed me to speak to a current employee which is currently about to start his FAEs and told me about his experience of his time in EY. We also had another chance to network when they took us to the Sweet Afton to talk to current employees and the student recruitment staff.
I thought that the networking event was fun and allowed us to talk to employees in a very relaxed environment which in turn made me feel relaxed.
I was given lots of information as to the activities that EY's employees can get involved in outside of work.
I would absolutely recommend this insight to a friend as I thought it was highly beneficial for a person in my position, looking for a graduate job and wanting to get a feel for the type of company or work they wish to enter into.
