The Role
I really enjoyed my placement, I had learnt so much and was able to work across a majority of the events campaigns as well as being on site.
The people who were on my team really made the placement the most enjoyable, alongside the other interns. The best part was being on site with other departments.
I was given full support, my manager arranged weekly catch ups which gave me the opportunity to ask any questions. Both managers gave me a brief outline on what Im expected to do which was helpful as within the first few weeks that I was settling in.
Luckily when I started the internship, a majority of the events were occurring therefore I was busy each day. Which I think is good as I was able to develop multitasking skills and stick to deadlines.
A lot my team really trusted me and even gave me a side project to complete. I feel that because of my role It would be much harder to consistently send work across to have it double checked every week. By me having such responsibility I became more confident in my writing skills and presentation skills as also presented new ideas to brand managers.
I think that the amount of work you put in matches how much you get out. I have learnt a lot from being at i2i and would suggest other students or people who would like to get into marketing to apply as you do learn a lot.
The Company
The atmosphere was really nice and relaxed you didn't have to wear suits you could wear what ever you wanted to ( no raving outfits) so it didn't feel like a stuffy office job.
On my team the placement set up was ideal as I knew what I was doing each week and If i wasn't sure I could always ask someone for work ( this allowed me to get to know other colleagues and help out on more projects. Would be nice if we had masterclasses on how to use certain thing such as Indesign etc....
Im not sure in cost? But those on my ream and other teams that I worked closely with did show me how to use gif maker, in design, canva and the other tools to schedule in posts and so forth. This was good as I wast sure what a majority of these websites where before starting the internship.
Company Parties/Events
Very appealing, I know for sure what type of marketing role I would like to get into once obtaining degree. The company is expanding which is exciting so hopefully more roles will appear that I can apply for.
The Culture
Yes the interns would meet at lunchtime and would sometimes sit together during office hours depending on what team you where placed with. All the interns are nice people which made it much easier to get along with them.
London is a very expensive city so expensive, I paid £100 + a month for Zone 1-2 travel. The location of the office was good when sunny as the outdoor arena was a nice place to sit and socialise. Sometimes food trucks would also arrive which was ideal as the food option can be repetitive.
No nighltife in paddington. You would have to either go North, East or Central for any types of nights out. Near the workplace a over priced pub/ drinks was available but not ideal for an intern due to the prices
Yes every week or every other week a Friday social was put on and town hall was also a good way to socialise.
