About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the Vacation Scheme as it provided an insight into the open nature of the firm as well as the large array of international opportunities available at the firm.
I felt valued at the firm undertaking tasks that trainees were from the first day of the Vacation Scheme. I was given the responsibility to be the first to draft documents for important clients of the firm so felt appreciated whilst I was there.
I received much support from graduate recruitment as to the process for the Vacation Scheme and the training contract interview. Each of my supervisors provided detailed individual guidance for both the group presentation and the training contract interview.
I developed key skills in legal researching using new tools I had not accessed at university before. The information I received about a legal career were invaluable and guided my decision to choose Hogan Lovells as the firm to train at.
The Company
The Vacation Scheme was incredibly well structured with a clear booklet from the first day as to how the scheme was planned out. The first week was packed with events to introduce you to as many people as possible at the firm with more free time in the last week to prepare for interviews.
There was always a friendly open atmosphere which was evident from the first day. In each seat there was a slightly different atmosphere depending on which department you sat in and how busy they were.
There were several extensive training sessions in every different seat. The presentations from Partners in the firm particularly Susan Bright demonstrated that the firm was investing in all the Vacation Scheme students.
The scheme demonstrated what it would be like to be a trainee because of the similarity of tasks and type of work. Sharing a room with a senior associate also gave a key insight into life as a Hogan Lovells employee.
I had the chance to meet people from every level of the firm giving me an insight into the culture from a wide array of people. Spending three weeks at the firm meant that I could compare the culture in each department and found strong similarities between them and could understand the common culture at the firm.
It was invaluable in helping me decide.
Everything Else
It was an extremely well paid scheme.
There were several opportunities over the three weeks.
The events included a Thames River experience, dinner at the Ivy and other events in the firm itself.
This was discussed with individuals.
I could not recommend this Vacation Scheme anymore to an individual keen to explore life inside a leading international law firm.
