The Role
I really enjoyed my year in industry based in Hull, and now feel like I would apply for a similar role post-graduation.
I worked in a small team, but felt valued towards the end of the placement as I became more confident in my own work.
I was given sufficient support and guidance during my placement. I could have received more guidance during the first few weeks of work, as it was a completely new area for me. However, it helped me develop faster and work more independently by allowing me find my feet in my own time.
Following an in depth training period, I always had plenty to do! Sometimes I had to juggle multiple tasks and felt under pressure. However, this helped me to develop time management and planning skills.
I was given increasing responsibility as I became more independent in my work.
I developed so many essential personal skills that will be invaluable in my degree and future career and gained confidence in my work.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was very professional, yet fun when appropriate. We organised team meals, activities and charity events to come together as a team.
I felt my placement was very structured and organised. Throughout the placement we had key HR contacts and managers to support our development. Clear objectives were set and discussed throughout the project.
Despite being students, we were given full training as any other permanent employee. We were also offered personal training & development sessions, such as CV workshops & learning style sessions.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
The Culture
There was around 30 students on placement, who organised social events. There were also a good social scene amongst colleagues, such as monthly team meals and evening events.
Hull is a very cheap area in which to live & work.
