About You
A&O First was a very useful insight scheme which I enjoyed a lot because of the range of different activities we were given to do and the relevance of the information we received.
Allen & Overy was a very welcoming firm with a friendly atmosphere; there were always members of graduate recruitment ready to answer questions and give advice.
During the insight scheme we were given a lot of support and guidance with regards to making applications to A&O in future.
The scheme definitely assisted me in feeling more confident about making an application to the firm in future and provided a lot of information on how to be successful in this process.
The Company
The insight scheme was very well structured with both days having a mixture of talks and challenges timed in way which made the days varied and interesting.
The environment at Allen & Overy was very welcoming and friendly - the atmosphere of the first day of the scheme was slightly more reserved as people didn't know each other so well but the second day was more relaxed and as participants we were all more talkative.
There was investment in us in the sense that we were very much encouraged to apply to the firm in future however there was no personal training involved.
There was a clear message in terms of the firm's ethos and working lifestyle, however, the scheme only incorporated a short period of time during which we shadowed trainee solicitors.
A&O First gave a clear and detailed insight in the culture of Allen & Overy.
The content of the two days confirmed that I would be suited to career in law and helped me decide that Allen & Overy is somewhere I would definitely like to apply to.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed travel expenses on both days.
Both insight days included a networking session to meet both the trainees and partners at the firm and ask any questions we had about life at Allen & Overy.
The networking events were good in that we were paired with a trainee buddy so were able to talk to them but weren't very structured other than that so it was difficult to network with a variety of different people.
Very little was mentioned at the insight scheme about the activities that Allen & Overy employees can do outside work apart from socialising with other employees.
Yes, absolutely - it was a great experience to attend the scheme.
