The Role
My internship was in Sales and Trading at Citi. The internship was well organised comprising of two rotations, a trading game, an individual presentation, activity days and a number of informative presentations. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Citi, and felt it was a very valuable experience.
The current employees at Citi were very willing to answer any questions I had, and I shadowed a number of people from Sales and Trading who kindly talked me through what they do on a day-to-day basis and helped me gain a better understanding of the financial markets.
The members of management that I worked with were very supportive and approachable. A number of them also had a very active role in the intern programme. The senior management were also very welcoming.
It varied. My first rotation was in Equities Trading Strategy and there were times when I had quite a bit to do and other times where there weren't as much. My second rotation was in Rates trading, and I was busy all throughout this rotation.
Interns in Sales and Trading aren't generally given much responsibility due to the nature of the role, it's more of a learning and networking experience. But my teams let me contribute where I could.
I have completed my degree but I have learnt a great deal in my internship that will help me when I go back to Citi for the graduate programme!
The Company
The trading floors were lively and the people there were generally very friendly and welcoming.
The internship was very well organised. We had two rotations, a number of presentations from different teams within Sales and Trading, an intern presentation, a trading game, activity days and a drinks evening.
Many of the employees invested a lot of time with the interns. I shadowed a number of people during my time at Citi.
Subsidised Canteen
Got an offer for the Graduate programme and I am very excited to go back!
The Culture
The other interns were great fun and I made a number of friends on the program. There were drinks/dinner at least once a week.
The internship was based in London, so generally everything was quite pricey. But there was a decent range. Living in East London wasn't too bad and there were very nice / new apartments there. The price for socialising varied depending on where you went.
Amazing!
There were a number of other activities organised by Citi.
