The Role
I enjoyed it to some extent. I found the internship programme very structured and organised, mainly what had been organised by HR, which was a positive. The role I was in (Marketing) was quite different from what I expected it to be in terms of my responsibilities and workload. However, I had the opportunity to learn a lot about the different departments within the organisation which was a bonus.
Within my direct team I didn't always feel valued. However, across the year I worked with lots of people from different departments who valued my opinion and made my experience much more enjoyable.
Weekly 1:1 meetings with my manager were helpful but I didn't always feel like support was easily accessible as I was working within such a busy team.
It varied by the time of year but generally I would say very busy. In my opinion the team I was working in was completely under resourced.
A lot which was a positive in some ways but also quite challenging in other ways. I was definitely given a lot more responsibility than I believe was advertised in the job description I applied for.
I worked with a lot of agencies on a regular basis and learnt how the briefing process works. I believe this area of knowledge in particular will assist me in a graduate role.
The Company
Unfortunately I would say the marketing teams were quite cliquey. General office atmosphere was good though.
The HR arrangements were very well structured and organised. As were the employee performance measures.
Lots of training programmes were offered throughout the year - very good.
Subsidised Canteen
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Healthcare/Dental
They don't currently offer a graduate scheme. Also Maidenhead isn't the most appealing location, quite a boring/dull place to live.
The Culture
Most of the interns were sociable and arranged events and occasional nights out.
Cost of living in Maidenhead is high. Maidenhead doesn't have a lot to offer in terms of a social scene/nightlife. Great that London is close though.
Pretty much non existent
There was a charity sporting activities event in the summer and monthly squash matches.
