The Role
I did a number of different and engaging tasks over the 11 weeks. However at times some of my work was more tedious.
The work I did was valued and I was told so. However my opinion and my access to decision-making was belittled.
My supervisor was excellent - while they were there. Other managers were also fine, but were very busy with other jobs and our meetings were about giving and explaining work to be done with little evaluation of previous work.
I had some slow days but for the most part I had enough work to be getting on with. At times this work was however boring.
I was not given enough responsibility or opportunity to engage with decision making.
As someone with a fair amount of experience of office work I do not feel that I have developed too much. New tasks were refreshing and allowed me to use existing skills in a new environment however I was never overly challenged.
The Company
There is a good atmosphere here, one which is determined and committed to working. In this respect there is not a lot of time for joking around - but that is quite how it should be!
Induction days were informative but repetitive, expenses were paid in reasonable time but could lead some to struggle without sufficient funds.
Paying my expenses was a fair outlay, beyond our initial agreement and I really appreciate they stretched to accommodate me. The mid-placement CV and Application training day was also very well produced.
I could see myself working here but already have other plans in place.
The Culture
There was some socialising and post-work drinks but not as much as you find in other sectors.
Angel and London generally is, of course, expensive.
Very little night life in the immediate vicinity.
These were all volunteering related, with no sport.
