The Role
Was an incredible experience in which I did some really interesting work!
I was very valued and was left to do some really important work
My manager was always around if I had any queries and set up weekly meetings where we could discuss my progress
Some days were very busy others not so much but overall a good balance!
I was given lots of responsibility!
I think I developed lots of skills which will hopefully help me in the future
The Company
It was a really pleasant place to work. There was lots of banter and everyone was happy to help. A range of age ranges too which made it even better. I was involved in the social side of my department and was really welcomed! From day one they welcomed me in and I genuinely feel I have made friends for life!
They had had lots of placement students before and so knew exactly what to do! Projects were already organised for me and there was lots of room for me to shape my own placement. Everything was prepared before I arrived. All of my training was organised for me and I was given comprehensive training on my actual job before being left to do it. For the remainder of the placement not much organising was required
I had to do lots of different trainings and my manager was always trying to improve the experience for me so i got the most out of it. I got the opportunity to attend meetings with senior members of staff and even present at these. I developed so many new skills and improved on lots I already had.

I would love to work for GSK again. I am not sure whether I would go back to the site I did my placement at though as I would quite like to experience a few other sites as well. The ethos of the company makes it a really nice place to work!
The Culture
Lots of placement students and graduates as well meant it was really good socially! It was also nice to be able to socialise with lots of different ages as its not something you get to do much at university. I ended up being busy most nights and trying lots of new things!
It was a bit more expensive than university but because i was earning this wasn't a huge problem! I ended up living in a nicer house than I did at university too. I also found that my office were very generous and ended up buying me lots of drinks so the expense wasn't so bad because of that!
Where I was wasn't the greatest night life in the world. But we did have many top nights out there. A 20 minutes train ride was Brighton though. Brighton was a great night out as well and obviously was very easy to get to, There was also a night bus which would take me home if I wanted to use that, but also some placement students living in Brighton so we could stay at their house too.
The department I worked in were very social and there was always something going on after work. The placement students were also very sociable as obviously they were away from family and friends. So most nights there was something I could go to!
