The Role
BuroHappold was a very enjoyable place to work,I found the whole experience to be insightful and rewarding.
My colleagues were friendly and welcoming from the beginning. Everyone in my team made sure to include me in their work where they were able, allowing me to have exposure to a variety of tasks and assignments.
Most of my tasks were undertaken broadly independently. My manager and other colleagues would always find the time to help me when I wasn't sure on how to do something.
Because of the nature of the work at BuroHappold, I found myself extremely busy with project work some days followed by periods of relative quiet. I used these quieter times to concentrate on working on longer assignments that ran for the length of the project.
Many of the tasks I was given were important and I was trusted to communicate directly with clients.
The whole process was confidence building and has definitely prepared me for the last year of my degree and my future career.
The Company
Everyone in my team got on well and this led to a great atmosphere.
The internship was well organised from the start.
I felt as though I was being trained as a permanent employee would.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
National Travel
I was offered a job at the end of my placement as a graduate engineer.
The Culture
There are many opportunities to socialise through the Young Engineers Forum, who meet regularly and organise events. I also regularly went for drinks after work with colleagues.
Bath is an expensive city but still reasonable when compared to London.
Bath is relatively quiet in comparison to bigger cities. There are lots of pubs and bars which make for great after work drinks however.
Yes, there were a number of opportunities available.
