The Role
I enjoyed my placement thoroughly! Everyone is so nice and helpful and it developed my skills and employability levels so much. You have the opportunity to deep dive into work and also work in other areas you find of interest. Your manager will organise you a PDP if you are interested and you can develop your skills throughout the year.
Completely, everyone is so nice and helpful but sometimes you need to learn to say no if you get given tasks that are not beneficial. You can get involved in lots but you need to be prepared to stand your ground and ask to get involved as well as say no to tasks you either don't have time for or are not relevant.
My manager was great! Like i said we worked on PDPs together and even though he was very busy being so senior he made time to meet me on a weekly basis and helped me to push myself and challenge myself to gain potential. I will say however it does depend on your manager, so speak up if you want more guidance.
This depended on which day i was working, what I had on and the time of year. Sometimes I was involved in lots of projects and was rushed off my feet and other times I hardly had any work, it varies to be honest. If you don;t have much work send out an email to your team to offer to help with work they may have on.
Lots! However, you sometimes have to ask to get involved and be more responsible for things, your colleagues are very busy and sometimes you need to follow the rule of 'if you don't ask you don't get'. I was very responsibility for certain projects and there were other roles I would of liked to have been given more responsibility for.
So much, a placement is valuable in order to put some of the theory you have learnt at university into practice, I was surprised how much is actually true when i the real life organisation. I spoke to my manager about what skills I wanted to develop and he helped me find ways to improve them. I had lots of training but most was just site training, others were just mandatory.
The Company
The atmosphere was great, everyone is so friendly and talkative and easy to approach, people regularly bring cake in too which is always nice! Its a very open planned office environment but there are tonnes of closed places you can go to if you need to concentrate so you get the best of both really!
Very organised, it depends on your department but start dates, plans and everything is well organised. When it comes to your day to day duties it changes each year for each student, depending what projects are on and what you want to get involved in so like I said you need to speak up!
I got the same training as all of the other staff, they never left you out they want to give you the same experience and do all they can to get you involved and make you feel just as part of the team as everyone else. Some of the work you need to do too like make time for your development but there is always people willing to help.

It is very competitive, they hire lots and lots of placement and intern students and then roles for graduates are limited, so make sure you network. You can always apply for roles after you leave but there is no guarantee that just because you did a placement there then you will get a job with them after.
The Culture
Definitely! It was highly organised and you will definitely not feel alone! There are projects to get involved in with fellow interns and organised events nearly once a month, you feel so close and there are lots of opportunities to socialise. They organise events from boat parties to Christmas balls!
I personally lived at home however you just need to look at this in advance, the company sets up a group for all interns so you can message other interns and organise a house to stay in with them if you want to. London is expensive if you are coming from elsewhere in the country but that is to be expected just budget!
Brentford doesn't have much to offer other than a few pubs but London isnt that far away so you can always hop on a train and be there quickly. There are always people to go out with and places near by but it always depends what site you work at.
Depends what you like doing, but I guess so.
