    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

    • This placement was a pleasure and I looked forward to work every day. I asked, and was given, an extra week working on the project beacause I enjoyed it so much.

    • All my colleagues were always on hand to help me whenever I needed and treated me as an equal.

    • If I ever had a task that I had been asked to complete that I did not fully understand they were on hand to explain what I had to do.

    • I was busy all the time because I wanted to get the best experience that I could out of my time at the project.

    • Due to my enthusiasm and my work ethic I was given more responsibility as I progressed through my placement.

    • This placement gave me practical experience and skills that will be useful throughout my career.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

    • Although we were there for work, the atmosphere was light and everyone was enjoying their work.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?

    • All information was recieved in good time and everything was set up for my first day.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

    • All members of staff helped me if there was any task that I needed help with. If there was any skill that I needed to learn; a demonstration followed by supervision ensured that I had the confidence to carry out the task.

    • After having a good placement I would hope that I have good chances of graduating into a job with Costain.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

    • There was a good relationship between all colleagues and a good social scene developed from that.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

    • There were various places to eat around where I was living and working, the majority were relatively cheap however like with all areas there were places that were quite expensive to eat and drink.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?

    • The night life where I was working was supposed to be good however due to working nights I was unable to enjoy the nightlife that was available.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?

    • Once again due to the nature of the hours that I was working I could not partake in any activities that could be available.
