The Role
The placement was incredibly enjoyable and is something I would recommend to anyone wanting to become a civil engineer.
My colleagues taught me what I needed to know and helped me improve on my knowledge greatly. They were very pleased with the work I put in. They were also very friendly making the whole placement more enjoyable.
All of my superiors helped me greatly in learning so many new skills.
I always had enough work to keep me entertained throughout the day. I never felt bored as I was always working.
I was given a lot of setting out responsibility. For the harder tasks the engineer checked over my work to make sure it was correct. As the placement progressed my responsibility grew as I learned more and worked more independently. I was in charge of lots of important jobs such as DCPs, concrete cubes, confined spaces, levelling etc.
The skills/knowledge I developed will help me immensely going into future work and will also help me in certain areas of my degree such as setting out.
The Company
Lots of banter, good atmosphere.
Very well organised with a special six week programme in place
They invested a lot of resources into insuring I was on a great site where I could expand my knowledge greatly. Management helped me develop my knowledge is the area.
Financial Bonus
Organisations structure is great and is designed to allow me to progress through the company easier.
The Culture
Held events to bring us together and socialise.
Cheap because I could drive from home.
