About You
Really great vacation scheme. Staff at all levels made an effort to get us involved. The work was interesting and the socials were really enjoyable. 1.5 weeks in two different departments. A commercial group exercise and an interview at the end. Various networking and practice sessions spread over the two weeks.
A lot of effort was made to ensure that we got to talk to people from different departments and at different seniorities. Partners were happy to talk to you despite how busy they clearly were. There were some great supervisors who put a lot of effort into assigning you interesting and relevant work.
We had a trainee buddy and a supervisor in each of our two different departments. We received feedback at the end of each 'seat'. There were always people nearby who you could ask for help.
It was a great insight into how the firm worked on a departmental level.
The Company
It was well structured. There was a good balance of time on the floors, attending talks and at socials.
The atmosphere was really good. The group got on really well and they are people who I would genuinely choose to spend time with on a social basis.
The main aspect here was probably helping us to understand more about the two different departments we were placed in.
We were treated like first seat trainees, which I know doesn't happen on a lot of vacation schemes.
My enjoyment of the firm's culture on the vacation scheme was a key factor in my decision to accept an offer.
Probably as helpful as it could have been unless we spent longer at the firm. It was helpful to be involved in real work.
Everything Else
£300 per week
Yes, almost every day. The socials were well-attended.
Trainees organised these and attended these, so there was a good variety. The firm also paid for the vac schemers to go out 'alone' ie without firm representatives on the first Friday. This was a great way to get to know the others when they weren't worried about being assessed.
There were some activities like the choir, darts, trainee blog, ski trip etc. They could probably still improve their offering in this regard.
Yes, definitely.
