    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my six weeks with Cushman & Wakefield. Not coming from a property background, I felt I learnt a lot over the course of the placement and gained a greater understanding of the property industry in general and what a career in property entails. The placement was well organised with networking events and training sessions put on for interns throughout the six weeks.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I immediately felt part of the team and was given tasks and projects to get working on straight away which was fantastic. The team also always reitereated that the projects I was working on were actually of real value to them. I sat in on and was part of all the team meetings and when I completed work it never went unnoticed.

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given a lot of support and guidance during my placement. On my first day my supervisor took the time to explain each area of the business to me before introducing me to everyone which was really helpful. Then at the start of each week he would run through what he wanted me to work on and check on my progress from the week before. He was always willing to answer any questions that I might have and was fantastic when it came to preparing for my end of placement presentation.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I always had something to be getting on with but never felt overwhelmed. What I was working on varied quite a bit from day to day which was also nice. The projects I was working on allowed me to gain exposure to different areas of the business as well as terminology which, as a newcomer to the industry, was very beneficial.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given more responsibility than I would have imagined. In general the work I was doing had a bearing on the collective work done by my team. My team were extremely trustworthy and allowed me to work independently on a number of projects which was extremely beneficial as it meant I learnt a lot.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel I learnt a great deal over the course of 6 weeks and think that what I learnt and the skills I developed will stand me in good stead in the future. During the internship we had regular presentations and workshops which were really valuable. I took a lot away from these, specifically presentation skills and the art of delivering a good presentation.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere within the office was great and getting to know people on my floor was a real highlight of my internship.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was very well organised, with specific networking and training events set up for interns throughout, as well as optional general events that graduates, etc may be attending. From the induction day to the leaving drinks, I really enjoyed the events put on by HR.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • HR put on several workshops which were really helpful to personal development.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Future employment prospects at the firm are really attractive as there is a dedicated graduate programme. Having spoken to recent graduates I have heard that the training they receive is excellent, alongside a large exposure to different areas of the business due to the three rotations that graduates complete as part of the scheme. Further to this the support networks within the firm offer an invaluable resource to learn from professionals who are more experienced than you, this is something I found helpful on the internship.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There is a great social scene amongst the fellow interns, being in London you are close to the shops, bars, parks and it is really easy to organise lunch with each other or drinks after work. Everyone is friendly and approachable so it is easy to get to know people.
