The Role
I really enjoyed my time at KPMG and that was primarily because of the people I've worked with. I quickly felt like part of a team and was encouraged to seek support and insights. Also, the line of work was aligned with my interests and future career plans so I've found tasks very enjoyable.
I was given a chance to make the most out of my time at KPMG and felt that my presence was valued. The quality of my work and my opinions were also very appreciated by the rest of the team.
I was well supported and encouraged to ask questions. The team and the management were very approachable and were always happy to help and give feedback on my work. Besides being given client work, I was fortunate to have one to one training sessions and access to various training materials that I could later discuss with the team.
Although summer seems to be a less busy time compared to the rest of the year, I was still involved in a lot of client work across various projects. I successfully prioritised and was set realistic deadlines which made my workload manageable. However, throughout the internship, the key was to show initiative and seek to get involved as much as possible.
Taking initiative was key. This means that the more tasks I've sought, the more I could present my competences and as a consequence get more responsibilities. I was exposed to various stages of the due diligence process and given responsibilities across each stage.
Due to my accounting and finance background, I already had a lot of knowledge to apply into practice. This also enabled me to utilise training resources that cover more advanced areas I haven't studied at university. This additional knowledge, as well as the new skills I've gained (particularly advanced Excel skills) are helping me both at my part time work and university. For example, the experience of working in Deal Advisory helps me in my current M&A course at university.
The Company
The atmosphere was very friendly and supportive. No day was the same which made my days even more enjoyable.
The internship was well organised overall. The team I've worked in was responsible for allocating everyday tasks and they made sure I get exposure to various parts of their job.
I had regular meetings with my assigned 'buddies' and manager. They made sure I take part in various projects and learn new skills and technical knowledge. I was given access to various training materials and was encouraged to ask questions, or have one-to-one training sessions. I found these training sessions very helpful for both performing the work and for applying that knowledge at university.

I really enjoyed the division I worked in and everyday tasks. Also, KPMG's culture and particularly the team I was in, made my internship very enjoyable and I could see myself working at KPMG longer team. At the end, I was given a graduate offer and I was happy to accept it.
The Culture
KPMG organised a corporate social responsibility day where all of us interns volunteered. A dinner for all interns in the office was also organised. Both of this was a great chance to social with other interns and to exchange our experiences. Besides this, the interns also organised regular socials we would attend after work.
I interned where I live and study so the living costs were just the same as are during the academic year.
As usual.
Yes. As stated, we had a intern dinner and a volunteering day. Besides this, there were events organised in the office, as well as team lunches, and all this was very enjoyable.
