The Role
I really enjoyed my internship. I learnt so much over the duration of the placement. Everyone welcomed me and my colleagues were more than happy to answer any questions I had about the project and to show me what to do.
Once I had been shown how to carry out certain tasks, I was trusted to carry these out. I was listened to and they took the time to explain anything to me that I did not understand.
I had amazing support from the engineers who would teach me the practical skills I needed on site and made my time on the project really enjoyable.
Most days were very busy, but on those that were not, I still almost always had something that I could get on with.
I think that I was given an appropriate level of responsibility for my knowledge. Over the course of the placement I was given gradually more responsibility as I got to know more about the project.
The knowledge I have gained has really put the modules I study at university into perspective, so that I can see how they all link together on projects.
The Company
Everyone was really friendly and approachable. If I was having trouble with anything, I would not have hesitated to ask anyone for help.
Very well organised. As well as my work on site, there were tasks set by HR which had to be completed at various intervals over the summer. From the start I was shown who I would be mainly working with and where.
Over my placement, I was encouraged to attend development talks. There was also quite a bit of contact with the development part of the company.
Company Parties/Events
Travel loan
Very appealing. I really enjoyed my placement with the company and would definitely like to work with them again.
The Culture
Yes, there were some company parties to celebrate a milestone on the project and it was good fun to attend with my colleagues and the other placement students on the project. There were also other times we socialised after work and it was good to get to know my colleagues.
London is quite expensive for socialising but I was living at home with my family and the company covered my cost of travel into work, so it was not too bad.
