The Role
Very enjoyable placement with lots of opportunities for development.
Felt very much part of a team and good work didn't go unnoticed so felt very valued.
Extensive handover period with previous intern which enabled you to learn whilst doing the job and understand the business with someone who had been in the same position. Received a thorough handover document which outlined all the tasks, what they were and how to do them. Weekly meetings with member of team to catch up about work and life as an intern.
At certain times of the month, it was quieter but there was always work to be done if you just ask which was received well.
Was given a lot of responsibility and were made aware that if certain tasks were not done, it could seriously impact the business, weren't seen as just an intern, full member of a team with a lot of responsibility.
The Company
Fairly relaxed atmosphere but with a sense that work still needed to be done, very friendly and open plan. Everyone is willing to help if there are any questions.
Very well organised with a month handover period with previous intern and then talks/inductions throughout the year to introduce different business areas. Lots of other interns so they organise activities together on first day to get to know people and events throughout the year.

No graduate scheme as of yet, however, when positions become available they tend to employ from their old interns as a first resort, lots of interns from previous years back in full time positions so very good future employment prospects.
The Culture
Lots of interns in the office, encourage you to live in Reading University halls for the first month to socialise with other interns and then find houses together. There is weekly socials and nights out with interns, one of the best aspects of the internship as you are not the only intern in the office.
I am quite local the area so have decided to leave at home with parents which has made it cheaper to live.
Lots of volunteering opportunities throughout the year for The Princes Trust amongst other charities.
