About You
I found the Insight Programme at KPMG very beneficial and enjoyable. This was because I was able to understand the various divisions at KPMG and understand various roles from actual employees. There was also a business game and a public speaking coach which helped me to develop various skills I was not previously confident with. Overall, this was a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone looking into going into professional services.
I felt very valued and comfortable whilst on this insight program especially whilst engaging with other KPMG employees during the networking session.
During this insight program, there wasn't anything too technical we had the task to do except the "Business Challenge Game" which required us to give a presentation within a group to a panel of KPMG employees. I believe I was given all the support I needed during the Insight Program as well as after the program.
This insight program helped me to develop my public speaking skills as well as give me a broader understanding of what big professional services firms such as KPMG do. I believe this insight program will help me to make a well thought out decision about my future careers.
The Company
The program was structured really well, as I was able to get to know my peers, understand the various sectors at KPMG and even develop skills such as public speaking all within 2 days.
The atmosphere at KPMG was definitely my favourite, the recruitment team were very helpful and welcoming as well as the various employees I was able to network with at the end of the 2 days.
KPMG aimed to help us understand the various services the company provides, it helped us to develop our public speaking skills through a mock scenario where we had to give a presentation to a mock client. Furthermore, we were also able to hear of the experience of various employees at KPMG and understand the path they took to get to where they are now.
By allowing us to experience the types of services KPMG provide through the business challenge game, I was able to understand the various skills I would need for a full time role at the company. For example, as well as being able to present to various clients, it is also important to have good interpersonal skills to be able to engage with other colleagues as well as the analytical skills to provide the best solutions for clients.
The Insight program helped me to understand the various types of employees that work at KPMG and also understand the support and motivations which help the firm thrive. I was also able to understand the various types of graduate support KPMG provide during their training program which was highly beneficial. By speaking to employers, I was able to also get a brief understanding of how various divisions interact with each other.
The content was very valuable as they covered various divisions within the firm, such as Tax, Financial Advisory, Audit and Technology. This combined with the networking with people from different division, I was able to understand the various types of work each division carries out and the various skills needed. Overall, it was helpful as it helped me decide to focus on a career in technology.
Everything Else
I was not paid or reimbursed as I have a monthly travel card and didn't need to have expenses covered however the option to cover travel expenses was available I believe.
Yes, there was an opportunity for me to meet people from various divisions and understand the types of work they carry out on a daily basis and how their division adds value to the company as a whole. For example, by networking I was able to understand the skills that are needed within the technology department and how these differ from that in the Audit department.
Very good, comfortable environment where I felt I was able to ask any questions I have about the firm.
Yes, by networking I was able to understand the various volunteering opportunities which exist for current employees as well as various extra activity they can engage with apart from their usual work.
Yes, I would definitely recommend this to a friend, as it was an experience which helped me to explore my future options as well as understand what I would need to do to thrive in a company such as KPMG and the steps I need to take now in order to be there in the future.
