Vacation Scheme Review

I really enjoyed the insight, our supervisors and other members of the departments were very conscientious in providing us with tasks that ranged in difficulty. A partner took time to set me a problem, and went through it with me and then provided me with feedback.

Myself and the other vac scheme students were made to feel very welcome by the departments that we sat with. We were taken for drinks and lunches by team members, beyond the events that graduate recruitment had organised for us. Furthermore I was invited to two events that partners were organising outside of the firm.

My supervisors were very supportive and more than happy to answer any questions that I had, as were others who had set me work. The level of guidance by the task setter varied depending on how busy they were, but they always directed me to someone who could help!

I had already completed my degrees, but I feel that skills such as networking were very well developed and have been of great use subsequently.

The insight was very well structured, although there could have been more balance between organised sessions with graduate recruitment, and free time to get to know the departments that we were sat in, and to perform tasks for them. I felt that I would have liked more time to do tasks.

The general atmosphere was very interesting because the Brexit referendum result was announced in the middle of the vacation scheme! However, everyone did well to remain positive. Besides that, everyone was really welcoming and positive anyway.

There were some great personal development sessions, focusing on understanding our styles of working, which I thought was really helpful.

The insight was useful in understanding what it would be like to have a full-time role at the firm.

The company culture shone through in my personal interactions with the people who worked there, as well as in the organised sessions.

Everything helped to guide me in my future career path.

I was paid well for the time that I spent there.

There were networking sessions integrated into the scheme in order to meet partners from other departments in the firm that we were not doing seats with.

The networking and social opportunities were fun and well planned.

There were lots of opportunities to take part in activities outside of normal working hours, including sports, arts, and pro bono.

I would highly recommend this insight to a friend.
