    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Great variety of work, wonderful team and a good support unit. The support included a mentor, a "buddy" (both of whom were in touch before the internship) and a very supportive team.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt like I got stuck into the placement as soon as I arrived and was challenged throughout.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Great amount of support on all fronts. Felt that I could ask any question at any stage of the internship.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I had a good amount to do. Whilst there was pressure to get work done, not to the extent that I felt too pressurised.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility as I was on client site and had to interact directly with the client on a daily basis.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Learnt a great variety of skills such as Excel and Powerpoint that are very useful and transfer well to any job. Other skills developed were communication, confidence and presentation skills.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was really great and inclusive of the interns. We had a great insight into the EY office and I was very impressed by the culture there.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • All was very well organised; beforehand we were all allocated projects, and told exactly where to go on the first few days. Throughout we had regular contact with our mentors and were encouraged to keep in touch with the recruitment team.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was good investment in the interns as we had the opportunity to shadow partners, sit in on meetings and were encouraged to network within the company and with other companies in the industry. A lot of time was dedicated to ensure that we got the most of the internship.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Great future employment prospects; I have been offered an internship and would recommend this as an internship for anyone interested in advisory.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes - we went on a team social and there were a number of networking events throughout the internship. At the start, all of the interns met each other which was good to meet people in your department/building.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was based in London which of course is very expensive so unfortunately socialising and travel were very expensive. These were not subsidised by EY.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife is good in London, and in the area I was there are a lot of nice cafes and bars where employees tend to go after work and at the weekends.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • We went on one social and were told about networking events that we could go to. Also we were encouraged to join EY clubs, though being there for only 6 weeks it was difficult to become completely integrated.
