The Role
Everything was great. All the people were extremely helpful and cheerful. I learnt a lot, met a lot of new people and made many friends. I am looking forward to returning next summer!
All the people around me were glad to have me in their team and really valued the work that I did as part of the team.
I felt like there were times when the people in my team had way too much work to do and therefore did not pay much attention to me. However, this only happened a couple of times and I am very satisfied with the support I received in general.
My working day was almost a perfect balance of work and attending meetings or meeting new people. I definitely feel this is one of the stronger sides of National Grid and would love if they keep it that way!
I think that I was given with enough responsibilities bearing in mind the fact that I am still a student.
During my placement with National Grid, I finally managed to understand how to apply my university knowledge to practice, which is something I truly value and which will probably help me a lot with my future studies and beyond them.
The Company
As I already mentioned in the previous questions, all the people around me were extremely helpful and cheerful, which set the tone for the atmosphere in the office. I think this allowed me to be more productive and do a larger amount of work for less time.
The placement was almost perfectly organised with a well-defined introduction phase, which is very important for people knew to the industry.
I think the company invested quite a lot in my personal development and training.
Flexi Time

Working from home

Travel loan
I would love it if I can join National Grid when I graduate from university. The company is big and there are many opportunities to grow. Hopefully, if they like the way I work over the course of my next placement, they'll offer me a place on the graduate scheme.
The Culture
There were many social events, including a conference for all the scholars. We had to opportunity to meet and exchange experience with many peers.
The cost of living somewhere close to the National Grid office was quite high actually.
The Nightlife in Leamington Spa is quite bad, but Birmingham is nearby, which is a great place to party
There were many opportunities to get involved in different activities outside of work. Some of them were a substation visit and also attending a conference, which was specially organised for all the Power Academy scholars.
