    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The 4 weeks gave such a good opportunity to work for the company, in the same environment and with the same people you would work with if you got the job. This is great as it gives you a real insight as to whether you would want to work here full time!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I was immediately invited to meetings, lunches etc as if I had been there for years. All of the staff, regardless of their 'rank', treated me as if I was a colleague, not somebody there for a month. I did the same work as other graduates so my work was just as important as anybody else's- I wasn't stuck doing mundane jobs such a filing!

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I was assigned a mentor at the start of the scheme. The graduate sat next to me and answered every question I had- none were too 'stupid'. I also had a senior member of the team who was there to oversee my time there. She was somebody to look upto and was a great inspiration

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Personally I believe a placement is so much more valuable to your learning than a lecture at university. Working in the real world with real problems, people and scenarios prepares you for work no lecturer can. It also throws you in at the deep end to learn the more nitty gritty bits- I definitely learnt a lot.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The whole scheme was incredibly well organised. From starting in a hotel with others doing the same scheme, to organising lunch with my team, everything ran very smoothly. Before I arrived at the office on my first day of my IT logins had already been created and I was ready to go.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • There was a very friendly and light atmosphere in the office. For something so daunting I was made to feel very comfortable and felt able to ask any questions I felt necessary. Even though I had a mentor, everybody around me I would still speak to me and engage in conversation.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • For every project I was to work on, I was given assistance by the person working on the project. Each person I spoke to was incredibly helpful and sat me down to explain everything I needed to know to complete the task. Outside of the specific work I was given some great advice regarding interviews and also my future study at university.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Doing the placement, you do exactly what you would do if you had a full-time job here. This is such a great way to decide if it's the kind of job you want to do. I also enjoyed working with the people that I will be working with when I start full-time in September.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Again, the placement provided A great way to see how the company ran. I got to see the culture at Deloitte was quite fun and light hearted when it could be, and very focused and motivated when it came to time to work. It was great to go for lunch and drinks with colleagues to get to know them outside of work environment

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Extremely. I realised this was something I was really interested in and could see myself doing as a career for the foreseeable future. It also helped me see how I can progress through the company and what sort of career I could have, and the benefits (and negatives) that would come with that.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was paid well and reimbursed for all travel in a timely manner.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Whilst on placement I think I met almost everybody on the team. And also when I met them, it was a proper chat, they seemed interested in who I was and where I was from, rather than just an introduction. I also met colleagues from other offices.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • I was invited out for lunch on several occasions, and also for drinks after work. After working so hard during the day it was great to be able to speak with people at a social level, both graduates and more senior colleagues, right up to the partner, who came for lunch.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • There are lots of opportunities outside of work with Deloitte. There are several sports teams, and entrants into marathons and the like seemed very popular. There was a competitive atmosphere in the office when it came to games, while I was there, a fusball competition took place!

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would recommend both the placement I did, and also the company as a whole. The whole experience was a positive one, and really made me want to work there, which is about the best outcome could've been. I was very well looked after and treated like a member of the team, and was also given great advice for outside of Deloitte, for sample with uni.
