About You
The event I attended was well-organised and informative. We took part in a mock investment game which gave a great insight into what working in Equities entails.
All of the employees at Fidelity, no matter how senior, made an effort to talk with us and get to know us.
Fidelity's employees were very helpful in offering guidance and helping us to approach problems in different ways.
Learning about Equities helped me think about how to put together arguments, how to work in teams, how to present ideas to panel. All of these skills are very helpful in all sorts of career paths.
The Company
The insight was very well-structured. We were first given an introduction to the firm by senior leaders. Then we were given a mock investment challenge where we had to create a stock pitch recommendation.
The atmosphere was great. What I like about Fidelity, and asset management firms in general, is that they hire great people. Intelligent but also laid back and personable.
Fidelity covered our travel expenses and was very helpful in offering follow-up events relating to the programmes we applied to.
The event offered a great insight into what it would be like to work full time at Fidelity. We learned a lot about their internship and graduate programmes, what their people were like and what opportunities were available.
The insight helped greatly with understanding the company's culture. I learned about how Fidelity is a large asset manager, which offers the benefit of vast resources, but within that it operates in nimble, closely-knit teams. This provides the cultural benefits of a team where you can feel comfortable approaching and talking with senior figures.
The content of the day was especially valuable in helping my decide my career path. My two main concerns are finding a job that I am interested in and finding people that I would genuinely like to work with. I think Fidelity offered an excellent proposition on both fronts.
Everything Else
It was a one day event so we were reimbursed travel expenses.
Yes. The event itself had a networking portion and we were also invited to a follow-up event.
The networking opportunities were great. The people at Fidelity were all very kind and willing to help with any questions we had.
We learned that Fidelity employees get involved with all sorts of charitable causes and, given the work-life balance at an asset management firm, have time to take part in sports, go to the gym, etc. too.
Definitely. I learned a lot about Fidelity as a company and I think regardless of what industry you want to go into it is always worth finding out about new ones. They may be a great fit for you.
