The Role
I really enjoyed the placement, particularly the second half where I felt more settled in and knew more people as well as feeling more comfortable with the work.
I felt very valued. Colleagues would always be very grateful for the work that I had done and would also give me good feedback when I presented my work.
I received a lot of support and guidance. We had 4 reviews over the internship to check on my progress and ensure that I was achieving everything that I wanted from the internship. I also had one-on-one's with my manager every week to check that my work was going well and to give me the opportunity to ask questions. If I had anything to ask between these meetings I also felt comfortable approaching colleagues with questions.
Pretty busy/at the right level for me. My supervisor frequently checked with me that my workload was appropriate. I never had huge stretches of time with nothing to do but I also never felt overwhelmed by the amount of work I had.
Quite a bit of responsibility. In the first half of the project I was mostly working for other people but in the second half I got to manage my own project which came with quite a lot of responsibility.
The skills I developed will be hugely useful in applying for jobs. I already feel much more confident when applying and have much more to talk about in my CV and cover letter.
The Company
Friendly. Open (we had hot desking). Everyone was very happy to chat to me about their work and help me if I needed it.
Very well organised.
We had access to public speaking workshops, CV/cover letter workshops and LinkedIn workshops.

There isn't the opportunity to be automatically offered a job at the end like there is at some placements - you have to re-apply. We do have access to internal openings but there weren't any opportunities in the areas that I wanted to work in.
The Culture
Yes. Had drinks after work every Thursday.
Very expensive because in London but there were local bars which had discounts if you worked at CRUK so they were quite cheap.
Went to some fun pubs/bars.
Yes lots. Had intern fundraising which are events organised by the interns. Also get the opportunity to volunteer in lots of CRUK events.
