About You
I found the scheme to be genuinely enjoyable.
I felt welcome and valued by all at the firm.
My trainer, as well as everyone else at the firm, was always happy to answer any questions/assist with any problems that I came across.
The information I have obtained on this scheme will be very useful in informing my decision as to where to begin my career - the answer to which will almost certainly be at A&O.
The Company
I cannot fault the structure of the scheme - there were presentations/events every day, and beyond this, the HR team were always happy to help to arrange any further meetings/events in response to any request.
Friendly, supportive and non-hierarchical.
It is clear that a lot of time and resource was allocated to this scheme. We were given comprehensive IT training and shown where everything is and how it works on the first day. We also took part in a business development game and prepared + delivered a presentation on the pro bono work carried out at the firm.
Sitting in the same office as my trainer, I was able to observe the tasks he carried out as part of his full time role. I was also able to speak with other employees to get an idea of what their work involves.
I got a very clear impression of the culture at A&O - I had the chance to interact with representatives from different practice areas and levels of seniority, both inside and outside of the office.
Very valuable.
Everything Else
Market-leading pay for the vacation scheme students.
There were many networking opportunities.
Very enjoyable - generous amounts of food and drink were provided at all.
Yes - there was a presentation which included a broad overview, and meetings/practice sessions for specific activities were arranged for those interested.
Absolutely - it has been thoroughly enjoyable and useful.
