About You
It was a very insightful day where we got to engage with the team at Baker McKenzie to understand the culture of the firm as a whole.
To learn about the firm and life as a trainee.
It was nice to get an insight through existing trainees, who would have the best resource to understand life as a trainee at the firm. All of my queries were answered. However it would have been nice to see some partners or associates at the event for a longer duration to really get an insight into the firm itself.
The negotiation skills has not helped my academic life but I would imagine it would help me in my career in future. However the presentation skills has help my recent academic experiences.
The Company
Yes, the day was very packed but it would nice to see the team being very committed to giving us the best experience.
It was very welcoming and also very insightful. The staff and the trainees were very friendly and it was a generally a positive atmosphere and would like to return soon.
The firm was able to welcome my skills and to show me how these skills an be transferable into a position with them. The fact that the company organised the full day and also provided us with very useful information which was beyond any research showed their commitment towards me as an attendee.
The company is also a forward driven one and the way the employees have presented themselves illustrate that there is no hierarchal system which would show that the firm had or will be investing in me.
This had extended my knowledge of the company further and had also altered my opinions of the company instantaneously. The atmosphere that they have promote throughout the day was not an intimidating one but one which is challenging but welcoming.
This was very valuable as it had allowed me to make up my mind to apply to Baker McKenzie for a training contract or a vacation scheme.
Everything Else
The event was only for a day and also any travelling expense I had could not be reimbursed for.
There was many opportunities to network with the trainees and the recruitment team which would help my understanding in the role as a trainee and also for the transition from academic life to working life. However although there was an inspirational speech by one of the partners, Sunny Mann, there were not any partners throughout the day. As a result, I was not able to ask specific questions.
There were many networking opportunities with the existing trainees and also the colleagues we had spent a day with throughout the whole day. This was eve whilst working on activities as we managed to work as a team with trainees and all attendees.
Yes, there were specific presentations and talks which the trainees had informed us about regarding any societies were could take part in.
Yes, Definitely. This was a day that was useful to understand the firm as a whole and to also gain some skills throughout the different activities we had to perform.
