About You
It was a wonderful experience to say the least. I met a lot of great people, and learnt lots about the tax and advisory divisions in EY- this insight helped me understand the different divisions clearly. I enjoyed the insight as it was packed with informative advice and everyone was open to answering any questions that I had.
Everyone in the firm is very friendly and approachable. I spoke to various employees on different levels and each of them treated me in the same friendly manner. I felt very valued at the firm especially as I was a lot younger than all the employees and did not know what to expect. Great culture of friendliness.
The insight that i attended at EY provided me with a lot of guidance and support, at times where i felt i did not understand what I was meant to be doing, there was always someone to ask for help and provide the guidance that i was looking for. I was assured that if i needed it, i could ask any of the student recruitment team for help.
This insight was particularly helpful as it allowed me to make a clear opinion on the tax and assurance divisions in a professional services firm. It also provided me with skills that i ahve further developed this year at university. I engaged in a fictional client group project which build my teamwork skills but also allowed me to practise presenting in a professional environment.
The Company
the insight was well structure with a clear summary at the end of each day of what we achieved and how we achieved it. At the end of the first day we were asked what else we would like the team to cover so that none of us went away with missing information. each morning we had a brief session which gave us an outline of what our day would consist of, and this gave the insight week a very clear structure.
The general atmosphere of the insight was definitely a relaxed but informative one. The people were friendly and very approachable and i was put in a perfect learning environment. I was able to learn from the students around as well as the EY employees which is something i liked in particular about this insight
This was a very valuable experience as the insight allowed me to make a judgement on tax and assurance and decide which divisions i would like to get experiences to aid me with my future career. From this insight in particular it helped me decide that i would not be interested in assurance, and helped me to apply to the division i will be completing my internship in.
Everything Else
this was an unpaid experience and lasted under a week. I was not reimbursed as i did not have any travel costs. When they invited me for an AC i was in fact reimbursed my ticket as this was not during term time and i was no longer living in London and using a monthly travel like the first time i visited the firm.
during lunchtime we were able to network with the employees who were on their graduate placement. on top of this when taking part in the group activities we were all assigned a team member who had been at the firm for a while. after the first day at the insight we attended a dinner at the nearby jaimies italian, which provided me with the perfect networking opportunities with partners, managing directors, and various other members of the firm.
100%! i would and have recommended all my friends to apply and put their efforts into attending this insight, as it was a very helpful and informative for me and undoubtedly provided useful when thinking about my future career options. I also have made some good friends from the insight and was a great way to meet new people.
