The Role
I definately felt this was a unique experience which you can't get anywhere else. However with the experience there is also a lot of financial risk on the student.
With southwestern there is an adequate and extremely supportive group of people behind you.
I think with the way the whole programme is structured, it works in layers where there is a lot of support given by all types of management
I would say that you always have to keep on your toes, because you are running your own business, there are an infinite amount of things you have to keep track of and it means that you are always busy
With the nature of the job, you have a lot of responsibility with just your own job. But there are opportunities to manage and speak and support other people, as well as take a leading role in sunday meetings.
I feel that the biggest appeal of this programme is the amount of life skills you learn from scheduling, to goal setting as well as focus which is why I believe the skills gained from this will assist me for my degree programme and beyond
The Company
On the bookfield you can have loads of fun but there are long periods where nothing happens, its just the nature of the job
My manager made me aware of everything so I knew how it was all set up
The company only invest their time but financially there is a lot of risk on the student
International Travel
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
There is huge opportunity for progression and to learn more especially about management
The Culture
The people who did the same programme were all positive and created a great atmosphere
A lot was dependent on finding a host family and the price of renting was relatively cheap but came out your own pocket
We were working over 80 hours a day for 6 days, there was no time to experience the nightlife
we had a lot of sunday activities go on such as go to huntington beach, chill in the cinemas, go to LA etc.
