About You
I really liked the way that EY greeted us and introduced us clearly to the program to instantly make us feel welcome. They provided us with useful information in a structured and interesting way to grab our attention. Everyone involved was very helpful and friendly the entire time.
I felt completely comfortable and content throughout the day as I knew that the staff members would appreciate any questions that they would also answer to the best standard. At no point did I feel less accepted than someone that was a part of the company that they valued entirely.
The support was great as I felt that EY would help me with any choice I made in the future and would guide me along the path that I followed. They also reassured everyone that in the process of applying for an apprenticeship they would support us and make sure we felt 100% comfortable with the approach to it.
I did gather some valuable information to help me when considering whether to go to university or to do an apprenticeship with a large company such as EY because I understood the different benefits to both opportunities and how I can challenge myself further to trying something new.
The Company
It was a well-planned day to make sure each session guided us along each different aspect of working in business and they ensured that we were able to receive all the correct information/that all our questions were answered before moving on. However some sessions could have been a bit more concise to make them more interesting and valuable for the topics discussed.
It was an entirely friendly and welcoming atmosphere and made me feel comfortable with the working environment. Everything was planned to make us feel like part of EY and to allow us to feel content in approaching any member of staff. There was a secure and positive feeling there at all times.
They made sure that we fully developed our understanding of the company and how their different opportunities of work experience/apprenticeships worked. They also gave us an insight into which sector might suit us best to work in through a quiz. We also developed our confidence of project management/financial management through a task to present ideas of how to plan an event with a budget in mind.
It helped me to understand the opportunities I would have there while maintaining a good work/life balance as well as being able to study while gaining this knowledge and experience. I realised that there are many advantages to doing an apprenticeship and was ensured that I would always be welcome as a full time staff member equal to anyone else in the company as soon as I started which would make me always feel comfortable/confident at work.
I completely received the feeling that the company valued each and every staff member who worked there. EY makes everyone feel secure and like a large community that always supports each other and makes work feel great all the time as your colleagues are approachable.
I am definitely considering the apprenticeship path with EY or another similar company because I developed my understanding of the advantages of this and the opportunities available to me through this path and how beneficial it can be to students who want to gain knowledge while working in a unique way.
Everything Else
Travel expenses were covered by EY.
A student leaver who was currently at an apprenticeship at EY was at each table for a group of students to guide them and help with any questions they could give an insight of this opportunity to. Some staff members were also there to lead the sessions and answer any questions from students.
They could have been more insightful and a more senior staff member could also have been a part of some of the discussions or could have given a more detailed talk about the company and its opportunities to students.
There was not much information given about these opportunities and therefore I do not have a clear insight about this.
If they are considering a career in this sector then this is definitely a great opportunity to take advantage of as it gives a complete insight into a job of this type and the different pathways you can take after leaving school if you do not want to necessarily go to university.
