The Role
I really enjoyed my internship at CRUK and would recommend it to anyone. It has given me excellent insight into the charity sector and developed many of my skills.
My colleagues were very appreciative of the work I was doing for them and made sure they told me regularly.
I had 1:1s weekly with my line manager where we discussed the projects I was working on and ways in which we could make sure I was getting as much out of the experience as possible.
I was busy most of the time as I worked on multiple projects - this helped develop my organisation and time management skills which are crucial to any future role.
My responsibility grew through the internship and I asked to be involved more in certain areas. In the end I was given a lot of responsibility and trusted to start approaching prospects I had found myself.
I want to work in the charity sector so this experience has been very valuable and shown me the sort of team I would like to be in in the future.
The Company
Everyone is very friendly and fun and so there was always a buzzing atmosphere around where I worked.
Very organised with constant contact from the lady in charge of the internship scheme and also with my line manager.
There were workshops for CV writing, presenting and interview skils. They could have come earlier in the scheme because they were all quite near the end - but still helpful.
I made it to the final round of an internal, competitive role because they trusted I was capable from the work I had done for them previously. From what I can tell a lot of interns do get hired even if it's not right away.
The Culture
I attended intern drinks a few Thursdays and always had fun
London is always expensive but we had discount at a local bar which helped.
Never went out - only to a couple of bars but the area is very busy and there are lots of places to choose from
Not really for interns but if you are an employee then there are a lot of opportunities
