    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed the insight spring programme at Barclays as there was a lot of inside information to what the organisation is about. As interns, we interacted with people from within the organisation from different hierarchies, group functions which gave us an all-rounded and informative decision when choosing what to interview for the summer internship. The HR team really organised the program well and I am really grateful to have been a part of the 2017 Spring Week Program.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt extremely valued as not only did we get to meet senior members of the organisation but we got meaningful advice and tips on how to jumpstart our careers in the world of finance. Every part of the spring week, I believe, reinforced Barclays commitment to investing in its human capital and really made me feel like a valuable asset of the organisation.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There was a very strong support system that guided us every step of the way ensuring that the assimilation was seamless. All the way from the confirmation of the interview to the signing of the contract - Barclays really took its time to make us comfortable. I would definitely recommend the organisation to anyone looking for a meaningful Spring Week Program.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt a lot more about industry and inasmuch as I am doing a "relatable" degree - this insight week really showed me what industry is currently facing and how it has set different policies in place to be able to mitigate the challenges. It has taught me to keep an open mind that goes beyond reading Bloomberg and FT articles and take a technical approach with things to really differentiate me from everyone else. One of the directors talked about curiosity being the main differentiator in the work place and I definitely will look into that!

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was well organised and structured with the flow of which function came to speak to us being very well detailed. The work shadowing sessions were also very insightful and gave us more insight to the actual technical tasks of an analyst, confirming whether or not we would want to develop a career in the particular area. We were given an agenda beforehand that made it easier for us to prepare questions beforehand, making the experience even more worthwhile.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was generally friendly with those even high up the organisation willing to come and give us talks, leave their email addresses with us and genuinely take an interest into what we want to do. HR accomodated us immensely and made sure that we were all catered for - enabling a caring environment.

The shadowing was particularly insightful as we got to see the kind of tasks that we would be expected to conduct on the job.
